Manhattan Beach, California – June 24, 2021 – Slater Heidrich, a graduate of Mira Costa High School, has been selected as the 2021 recipient of the Jake Cleland Memorial Scholarship. An avid lifelong musician, Slater will be attending Belmont University in Nashville, TN majoring in Music Production.
Diagnosed with Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy in 2014, Slater is an active Epilepsy advocate. He established the Mira Costa End Epilepsy club and Epipalooza music festival to create awareness, raising thousands of dollars for the Epilepsy Foundation.
The Jake Cleland Memorial Scholarship was established by Strand Hill in partnership with Concierge Escrow in memory of Jake Cleland, a Strand Hill team member, who passed away September 6, 2019 at the age of 26 of Epilepsy. Jake was a lifelong resident of Manhattan Beach and graduate of Mira Costa High School.
